Unhinged Facilitators

Not all facilitators are created equal! I promise you, that is the case here. while we will all uphold the 'rules' and conduct each meeting in a fair and inclusive manner... We all have our own style of bringing recovery to our community! A melting pot of personalities, stages in life and recovery, and personal experiences is what keeps it interesting. Here's a small synopsis on who we are and a general idea of what to expect.

Jess, has been in recovery since 2/1/22. A former bartender, this wife and mom began advocating for recovery by writing. After quitting the restaurant industry, she became a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist. Her day job pays the bills, but that wasn't enough. Its meetings like these that saved her life in 2022... and she was passionate enough to start this platform! We Do Recover!

Jim, being in and out of recovery since he was 16 years old, struggling with addiction and alcoholism, found himself in prison where he knew it was time to find a better way. Basing his recovery on the fact that connection is the opposite of addiction, and being of service, was the best way for his continued recovery.

Rich, with a curious mind, and of his volition,, started experimenting with drugs at the age 13. He deemed the results satisfactory and would spend the next 40 plus years drinking and drugging. Somewhere along the way, partying and having a good time turned into full blown alcohol and substance abuse. Luckily, in October of 2022, he reached out for clinical help. Clean and sober since 11/09/2022, he now knows asking for help is not a sign of weakness, and has found healing in connection. Connection is the opposite of addiction!

Emily L, was probably born on a dark and stormy night, but that is in no way reflected in her mostly sunny attitude. Her love affair with alcohol began in college and eventually turned abusive, ending with a night in jail for a woman who was always uncomfortable breaking the rules.  She left that relationship in May of 2022 and attributes her continuing sobriety and personal growth to the community meetings.

Christopher, was raised by the streets of Brooklyn. Adulthood met him with many adventures including a reliance on alcohol leading to depression and suicide attempts. Deciding he wanted to live, Christopher enjoyed sobriety for years until an injury led to a pill addiction, costing him relationships and bringing him to sunny Florida. He truly believed he was meant to party his life away, but a nudge from the judge forced him into meetings and the growth he saw in others motivated him to seek the same for himself. Christopher's meetings are filled with laughter and deep thought, he welcomes everyone with enthusiasm. Straight laced since 10/05/2020. "Hey buddy, how you doing?"
